Agritech New Zealand is excited to introduce Barbara Mazur to a New Zealand audience. Barbara will be joining the high-profile delegation of leading global agritech thought leaders and investors, led by Arama Kukutai of Finistere Ventures, when they visit the country from 22 – 25 May.
Barbara will be attending the ‘10 billion mouths’ agritech conference in Tauranga on Wednesday 23 May.
Barbara Mazur is vice president for Technology Acquisition Strategy for agricultural biotechnology at DuPont Pioneer. The group identifies trait and technology collaboration and acquisition opportunities that are aligned with product needs.
Mazur has more than 35 years of industry experience and has held numerous roles at DuPont and DuPont Pioneer. She is an inventor of four issued U.S. patents and is an author of more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications. A native of California, she attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where she earned her AB in bacteriology before earning her PhD in molecular genetics from The Rockefeller University. She was a postdoctoral research fellow, followed by a research assistant professor, at the University of Chicago prior to joining DuPont in 1979. She is a member of the DuPont Agricultural Biotechnology Leadership Team.
She has served on a number of scientific boards and panels, including the Board on Biology of the National Academy of Sciences; the National Science Foundation Biology Advisory Board; the Board of the International Society for Plant Molecular Biology; and the International Advisory Board, Institute of Biological, Environmental & Rural Sciences, Aberystwyth University, Wales, UK.
