We’re looking forward to welcoming you to the Float All Boats: Mapping the Agritech Data Tide workshop at Agritech Unleashed. This will be a fast-paced, collaborative session designed to move beyond broad ecosystem mapping and into specific, high-value data integration opportunities that can lift the whole sector.
The goal:
By the end of the workshop, we’ll have a clearer picture of where data integration could create a significant impact, and we’ll begin building a shared API inventory, including both existing APIs and those we wish existed, to support future collaboration and capability building.
What to bring:
In addition to your curiosity, please come prepared to share:
- One or more examples of data you steward, integrate with, or aspire to connect to (think high-level data domains like Animal Health, Soils & Nutrients, Pasture, Financial / Compliance, etc.). Be ready to share:
- Data you steward: e.g. “We manage pasture growth data for 100,000 hectares.”
- Data you integrate with: e.g. “We consume animal movement data from NAIT to improve disease risk analytics.”
- Data you aspire to connect to: e.g. “We want access to soil nutrient mapping to improve fertiliser planning.”
- An integration success story: where linking data between organisations has delivered real value (either your own or one you know well). Think of a real-world example where linking data between organisations delivered value.
- What was the problem?
- How was it solved?
- What was the impact?
- A specific problem or opportunity where better data integration could unlock new value, ideally something tangible enough that we could identify or scope an API for it. For each problem/opportunity, think about:
- Existing APIs you know of that could help.
- Desired APIs that don’t exist or aren’t accessible.
- The purpose of the API, what problem it solves.
- Any thoughts on what makes an API “well-formed” and easy to use, for applications today and emerging AI-driven agents in the near future? We’ll discuss this in the workshop, but here’s a starter checklist:
- Clear, up-to-date documentation
- Secure authentication (OAuth2 or equivalent)
- Standardised, machine-readable formats (JSON/XML)
- Discoverable and easy to onboard
- Interoperable with other systems
- Scalable and reliable for both application integration and AI/agent use cases
Who will be in the room:
Leaders and experts from across the agritech sector, including CIOs, CTOs, product managers, developers, analysts, and data strategists, are all interested in building the next level of shared capability.
Why it matters:
This is a pre-competitive, open, and collaborative conversation. We’ll celebrate duplication, choice, and competition, because in a rising data tide, all boats can float higher.
