“Improving technology adoption
by strengthening the practices behind it.”
Why we formed
Agritech innovation is accelerating, but adoption is not necessarily guaranteed. New tools do not automatically translate into on-farm impact.
Technology adoption is not simply a farmer or grower decision; it is an outcome of how well solutions are designed, delivered and integrated into real-world systems. When unit economics are unclear, usability is poor, or problems are not well defined, adoption will stall, regardless of technical capability.
We formed this group to better understand, monitor and improve technology adoption across Aotearoa, recognising it as a reflection of overall sector and business maturity, not just uptake of new tools.
Purpose
To build a clear, evidence-based understanding of technology adoption in New Zealand agriculture, and to improve it by strengthening the practices, relationships and capabilities that sit behind successful adoption.
What we will deliver
- Ongoing measurement of technology adoption through quantitative and qualitative insights
- A shared view of adoption drivers, barriers and patterns across sectors and farm systems
- Clear articulation of what “adoption-ready” solutions look like in practice
- Practical guidance to support agritech organisations to design, deliver and integrate solutions more effectively
- Sector conversations and touchpoints that turn insight into action, including through Agritech Unleashed
