Who We Are

AgriTech New Zealand is the united voice
for agritech in Aotearoa.

Guided by purpose and united by innovation in primary production, we support our members to succeed so that, together, we can drive long-term prosperity for New Zealand’s primary industries and transition toward a knowledge-based economy.

AgriTech New Zealand is an independent, non-government organisation representing Aotearoa’s agritech ecosystem. We exist to help the sector work as a system — not as disconnected regions, technologies, or initiatives. Our role is to reduce fragmentation, strengthen trust, and build shared pathways to impact so agritech can scale globally with credibility.

We define ‘agritech’ as the technologies that improve how we grow, farm, harvest, sort, package and manage production systems. It is not the food and fibre itself, but is integral to all farming systems, from new innovations to everyday practice.

New Zealand’s agritech advantage is grounded in real-world application. Our technologies are developed alongside farmers and growers operating world-class production systems and facing global pressures around productivity, sustainability, and resilience. We steward this advantage by enabling an ecosystem that is coordinated and market-ready — rather than promoting individual products.

OUR ACTIVITY FRAMEWORK

Connect

We bring the ecosystem together across regions and subsectors — creating spaces where startups, scale-ups, exporters, farmer and grower groups, researchers, investors, corporates, Māori enterprises, and public-sector partners can collaborate with intent. Through initiatives like Agritech Unleashed, leader roundtables, ecosystem mapping, and digital member connection spaces, we turn regional activity into national momentum.

Promote

We lift the credibility and visibility of New Zealand agritech — locally and globally. We build and share a trusted evidence base, contribute to national narratives, and provide consistent storytelling, media commentary, and thought leadership that showcases Aotearoa as a high-value, trusted co-development partner.

Advance

We work on the long game — strengthening system alignment and improving the conditions that enable sector-wide progress. That includes aligning government, research, levy bodies, and industry around Agriculture 4.0, and ensuring agritech is visible, prioritised, and integrated into New Zealand’s broader technology, trade, and economic strategy.

OUR IMPACT

We work alongside our members to shift the dial on our areas of impact.

As AgriTech New Zealand, our collective efforts focus on the areas that matter most for Aotearoa’s future. These four impact areas guide how we collaborate, advocate, and help the agritech ecosystem move forward together.

Growth

We strengthen the conditions for agritech to scale — supporting pathways to global markets, exports, capital, and international partnerships. By aligning the ecosystem with trade and investment opportunities, we help lift productivity and value capture across New Zealand’s food and fibre industries.

Good Tech

We help build a connected, future-ready agritech community — strengthening leadership, collaboration, and capability across the ecosystem. We convene founders, farmer and grower groups, researchers, investors, and enablers to share learning, progress practical initiatives, and ensure the sector has the relationships and skills needed to grow.

People

We support agritech innovation that advances sustainable production and resilience — helping New Zealand and our global partners respond to climate, resource, and biosecurity pressures while protecting land and water. We champion solutions developed in real production environments, where environmental outcomes and productivity must move together.

Planet

We promote agritech that is trusted, safe, and credible — strengthening the evidence, integrity, and governance underpinning adoption and investment. We help build confidence with farmers and growers, government, and global partners by lifting sector standards, narratives, and market readiness.
