We’re delighted by the outstanding engagement in our Executive Council election process this year. With 12 impressive nominations for just four positions, it’s clear that momentum is building across our sector. We deeply appreciate everyone who stepped forward and encourage all members to make their voices heard in the voting process.
Our Executive Council is pivotal in guiding our direction, and this groundswell of collective energy inspires us to drive forward initiatives, such as our regional Agritech Unleashed series. These events are so much more than simple gatherings; they are dynamic forums where our sector’s voice is shaped. Through workshops and open conversations, we surface shared challenges and aspirations, and learn from one another in real-time.
As New Zealand’s first technology sector, agritech continues to enjoy strong support from both government agencies and individual politicians. Meanwhile, companies are growing, scaling up and productive collaborations are forming across our ecosystem. Together, our shared mission is ambitious: to grow New Zealand’s agritech sector to $10 billion in revenue, while delivering benefits for people, place, and planet.
Internationally, we’re seeing the UK double down on agritech with a new 10-year Industrial Strategy, significant investment, and clear policy direction, recognising agritech as central to food security, climate resilience and economic growth. New Zealand has made significant progress, with initiatives such as AgriZeroNZ and the Industry Transformation Plan, but to maintain its global competitiveness, a renewed national commitment to early-stage innovation, cross-sector collaboration, and strategic investment is necessary.
